According to the Chinese calendar,

2023 is the yin Water Rabbit year, but it should be remembered that the start of the yin Water Rabbit year does not coincide with the beginning of the western year (January 1st). The astrological year of the Water Rabbit starts on February 4th, 2023, around 3 am (CET), and will end on February 4th, 2024. So, it is important to remember that from January 1st, 2023 until February 3rd, 2023, we still are in the previous year, the yang Water Tiger year.

If you live in a different area of the world, you can use bazi-calculator.com , which does all corrections automatically, and you can accurately calculate your local time.

In Chinese calendar, the Rabbit is the second zodiac animal

of the seasonal cycle, it is the second spring animal, and is connected to the Wood energy.
In the yin Water Rabbit year, the leading energies will be Wood and Water, especially yin Wood and yin Water. We do not find Fire, Earth or Metal. Like the previous year, this year Wood is very strong too; but the lack of Fire does not allow the Wood to evolve and transform, except in some months in which the Fire appears and unblocks the situation.

Tai Sui, Sui Po e San Sha in 2023

In Feng Shui, we say that in 2023 the Lord of the Year is the Rabbit, also called the Tai Sui or Grand Duke of the Year. The Rabbit is associated with aast direction, specifically standing at east 2. Thus, the whole sector (or East Palace) is associated with the Tai Sui. Opposite to the Rabbit, we find the Rooster in west 2. The Rooster is the Rabbit’s enemy; it is called Sui Po, or Year Breaker.

In addition to Tai Sui and Sui Po, we must also take into account the San Shas, which represent difficult or dangerous directions. In a Rabbit year, the San Shas are generally connected to the west direction. We have Robbery Sha at south west 3, Monkey direction; Calamity Sha at west 2, exactly the Rooster; finally, the Earth Sha is at north west 1, in the Dog direction.

How can these Shas manifest themselves?

Robbery Sha indicates the possibility of something actually being stolen from you, but much more often, the possibility of losing something we have, or something we thought we had already gained. Mind you, this can also be on a metaphorical level, so not necessarily a loss of a physical asset, such as money, but it can be something that is stolen on an abstract level: an idea, a recognition, a promotion, help.

Calamity Sha is the strongest type of Sha, and is related to problems of various kinds, setbacks, difficulties.

Finally, the Annual Sha or Earth Sha is always connected to delays, slowdowns, blockages, difficulties in moving forward, and things of that nature. Since the 3 Shas are in the same west sector as the Sui Po, this makes their effect even worse, because they reinforce each other.

The last piece of information concerns the flying stars. The most problematic star is star 5, which is located in the northwest this year. Star 5 is associated with unforeseen events, disasters, sudden changes. Of course, you will find all this information in the 2023 Feng Shui Guide & Planner, where you will also find much more!

Most challenged areas and directions in 2023

First of all, the east and west areas should not be touched this year; therefore, even minimal changes to the interiors should be avoided, like knocking down, moving furniture or changing function (for example, a study room becomes a bedroom). This argument is even more important for houses facing east or west.

In this case, as they are the most sensitive dwellings, they should not undergo changes anywhere inside or outside of the house. Dwellings with the back to the west are more in trouble. If you still need to make changes, I recommend you seek professional advice, or use the 2023 Feng Shui Guide & Planner to calculate the best date.

Removals, relocations and property purchases in 2023

In addition, this year you should not buy or move into a dwelling that has its back to the west, east or north west. You should also avoid dwellings that have a north west front door. If you cannot help it, it is very important to calculate the correct date for your purchase, or for the day you enter your new home, using the 2023 Feng Shui Guide & Planner.

Bed and desk positioning in 2023

Regarding bed positioning, in 2023 you should definitely avoid placing a bed with the back to the west or north west. If you cannot do otherwise, use the 2023 Feng Shui Guide & Planner to select the most suitable month (i.e. with good Flying Stars), and the best day to avoid danger.

As for the placement of an important desk, you should definitely avoid a desk with an east, west or north west back this year. Again, if you cannot do otherwise, seek professional advice or use the 2023 Feng Shui Guide & Planner to select the most suitable month (i.e., with good Flying Stars), and the best day to avoid danger.

Traveling in 2023: dangerous directions

Finally, with regard to long or important journeys, avoid travelling east, west or north west direction, especially in the Rabbit month (roughly March) and the Rooster month (roughly September). Again, if you cannot help it, it is important to calculate the correct date for the start of the trip using the 2023 Feng Shui Guide & Planner.

Now, let’s look at how the year energies appear as Earth Qi, then at the Feng Shui level, analysing the directions, areas within the home, and times during the year. So, now let us look at the energetic features within the home, using the Flying Stars method.

Feng Shui 2023 Flying Stars

First, you have to determine the back and front of your house, which is usually quite intuitive. Then, you take the north direction from centre home. You can easily do this using a common compass. If you do not know how to do this, you can ask for help on our Community . You can join the Community for free.

Once you have determined the back and the facing, draw a 3×3 grid on the floor plan of your house. This grid is called “Ba Gua”. Then, using a compass, mark the north direction, and then mark all other directions clockwise. In this way, you will associate each of the nine boxes with a specific geographical direction. In Feng Shui, each of these nine boxes is called a ‘Palace’.

An important clarification: do not place the Ba Gua with the north where the front door is, as you read on the Internet or in some book: this has nothing to do with Feng Shui, it is a completely wrong method that you should definitely avoid.

What can you do in your home to take advantage of the Rabbit’s favourable energies? How can you do to limit unfavourable energies? Now, we are ready to analyse the energetic features of each of the Nine Palaces!

Feng Shui 2023 North Palace

Yearly star 9 is visiting the North Palace. This is a good star, bearing a lot of activity. However, star 9 is in conflict with the boss, star 1. This is a Water-Fire clash, so in this room be careful about emotions. The combination 1-9 is exaggerating emotional and psychic issues. Do not have important discussion in this room, especially about family and love matters. An emotionally unstable person should not use this room. However, this is a good area for professional growth and success in work.

Feng Shui 2023 Northeast Palace

North east is receiving annual star 7 yin Metal energy. Star 7 is not a very good star, and it’s exhausting the Lord of the Palace, star 8 Earth. If you use this area a lot, be careful because you could feel exhausted. Take time to recover. This is a yang room, better for yang activities (in daylight time). For instance, this area is good for studying. Star 7 is also the ‘robbery star’. Therefore, better check security issues in the north east.

Feng Shui 2023 East Palace

East is receiving annual star 2 yin Earth energy. The situation here is not very good. The combination portends quarrels, conflict, arguments, lawsuit, disharmony. The combination is also bringing trouble and discussion between mother and son. If your son is sleeping in the east area, this effect will be magnified. You should avoid east direction for work matters too, especially avoid sitting with east at your back. It could bring lawsuit and gossip at your back.

East direction is also the Tai Sui (Grand Duke) in 2023. Therefore, this year the east area should not undergo any renewal or change. This place must be left quiet and be used for regular everyday activities. Do not move or replace furniture.

Feng Shui 2023 Southeast Palace

South east is receiving annual star 3 yang Wood energy. Star 3 is related to arguments and strong competition. It can help if you want to do something ‘not the regular way’. Star 3 likes cunning, sneaky and not-necessarily-legal ways of action, so if you want to use this star, you need to stay in this mood.

In 2023 the south east area can also bear tension, conflicts, issues with authority, wrongdoings, rebellion and impatience. It is not suitable for children. Do not add green colour in this area, especially dark green. When you talk to your boy, don’t do it in this area!

Feng Shui 2023 South Palace

Yearly star 8 is visiting the South Palace. This is a very good star! The south probably is the best area in 2023. This room is very good to spend time with the family. It is particularly good for children. This area bears growth, success, help, earnings. It is also good for study and work, especially if the work has to do with building (architect, interior designer, Feng Shui consultant, construction companies).

Feng Shui 2023 Centre Palace

Star 4 is coming to the center. Star 4 is the ‘lesser fortune’ star. Star 4 is related to two different scopes. Star 4 is the scholarly star. It helps students, and anyone whose work has to do with art, literature, publishing, writing, education, teaching, research and science. In 2023 the center is a good area, particularly for study, work, research. Star 4 is also the star of love. It helps getting a new partner and fall in love.

If the center is blocked or cut, in some way, star 4 will not be able to exert its influence. You can find more information in the 2023 Feng Shui Guide & Planner.

Feng Shui 2023 Southwest Palace

The Southwest Palace is receiving star 1. This is a good star, especially for development, success, growth. It is also good for artistic and even academic achievement. Social relationships can also benefit from star 1, especially if you have your main door in the south west. This area is also very good for long-term growth, gains and success in work. There is also a potential of earnings, if this is your working position.
This is particularly true for the female leader of the house, and even more if you use this room for work or study. However, there is also a downside. Women should take care of reproductive organs’ health. There could be some stress.

Feng Shui 2023 West Palace

West is receiving annual star 6 yang Metal energy. This is a favorable star! Star 6 has to do with authority, reputation, career, long life, health. The overall situation here is good. West direction is good for career, especially military-related career and literary pursuits. There is also some competition, so if you are sitting in the west area, be careful at work. If this area is occupied by children, take care of conflicts between brothers.

West direction is also the Sui Po (Year Breaker) in 2023, particularly the Rooster direction, and bears the San Sha: Robbery Sha (Monkey), Calamity Sha (Rooster), Earth Sha (Dog). Therefore, this year the west area should not undergo any renewal or change. This place must be left quiet and be used for everyday activities. Do not move or replace furniture. Do not place beds or desks facing east.

Feng Shui 2023 Northwest Palace

Star 5 is coming to the North West Palace. Star 5 is double-sided: it is the star of stability and sudden instability, often associated with sudden and unwanted changes. Star 5 is particularly dangerous in the northwest. In 2023, north west is probably the worst area. It is even worse when used mainly by an adult man.

Use this area only for regular everyday activity. If you can, use this area less than usual. Do not make any minor or major changes. Don’t engage in risky activities here.
